Costume design collection of a future designer with Yorkshire Television comprising two large quarto exercise books of drawings and sketches made in the 1950s at 'Leeds College of Technology' and a folder of drawings with watercolour wash ranging from ancient Egypt to the 1940s. June Cashman who would design for dramas produced at YTV during its pomp in the '60s and '70s studied at Leeds College where she has produced two large exercise books full of patterns, dimensions and designs with occasional swatches tipped in for colour guidance. Evidently this was an intensely practical course with copied size charts for children, cutting guides to party frocks and gym slips and grading for women's cup sizes. Alongside this mundane material are pretty sketches for cinch waisted women's suits and 'The Value of Modelling'. Alongside, a clip folder with around 60 pages of carefully executed historical costumes ranging from ancient Egypt to the inter war years; usually several annotated images to each page from the 'Ionic chiton' via court costumes of the fifteenth century to utility clothes of the 1940s with the lament, 'Hats scarcely worn', and a world away, a formal design from 1948 evoking 'Shiaparelli's fish-finned dress of '34'.
