LeRoy Leatherman's portrait of the dancer and choreographer with a signed, typed letter from Martha Graham herself laid in. Typed on her Center of Contemporary Dancing headed paper in 1976, Graham writes to Nancy Bowden in London acknowledges how 'It is always very hard for me to receive letters from people who remember other performances; and if I have given pleasant memories in the past. I am grateful and wish to thank you...' Signed in black ink. Two old folds, in original typed envelope with Martha Graham's monogram on recto. The letter's recipient Nancy Bowden worked for the London bookdealer and dance historian Cyril Beaumont. The book is in very good condition in a near very good jacket with a closed 2cm tear close to the top of the spine hinge on the front panel of the jacket. Martha Graham has been described as a theatrical revolutionary, an 'innovator who became a legend in her lifetime' who exerted an influence in her own field that was comparable with figures like Picasso and Stravinsky.
