[4] pp 31 [1] An uncommon architectural pamphlet in near fine condition, stab-sewn in original blue paper wrappers. The pages are untrimmed with a few foxing spots. The pamphlet presents the findings of 'the whole society of Architects' (including Matthew Brettingham, William Chambers, John Soane) who met in 1792 to consider the causes of the frequent fires in London and how to prevent them, citing correspondence from Henry Wood in Sloane Square and 'several desultory, but some ingenious, Methods of prevention'. 'A most effectual method' invented by Charles, Viscount Mahon, is reproduced from the Philosophical Transactions. ESTC T222511; 9 copies, not in Beinecke, Folger or Huntington.
