Under Compulsion [with a manuscript note]
pp 8-220 The first edition of Thomas Disch's collection of stories, Under Compulsion, signed by the author and with a note from him laid in. The letter was written to the literary agent Janet Freer on part of a torn A4 sheet. Responding to a request for information about a couple of his stories, Disch, ever the jobbing writer, informs Freer that The Eavesdroppers 'was published in a men's magazine called Swank, if Tit-bits likes the plot I can very easily cut it to 1200 words.' Disch signs the note 'Tom'. The book is signed with the author's full name on the first endpaper, its condition is near fine in publisher's grey cloth in a very good wrapper with a closed one inch tear to the rear fold.
